Amazing Felt Brooches

I am loving this collection of wool felt brooches by Canadian based artist Woolly Fabulous that I came across over at Flickr. A number of them are available at her etsy store.

Knitted Car Cover

I came across this photo of an amazing knitted Volvo car cover over in the flickr's The Knitting Club photo pool by secretagentmartens. You can read more about the Manifest festival that the art car was created for here.

Light Carpet

I just came across this amazing Light Carpet by Finnish architect and artist Johanna Hyrkäs. Light Carpet is made up of a light rope that is enclosed in a crochet cording. You can see more of her work including more Light Carpets at here website.

This piece was part of a design exhibition titled Extremely White, which was organized by Otro Diseno which is located in Amsterdam, but specializes in Latin American design.

Art Exhibition: Form and Imagination, Women Ceramic Sculptors

September 8^th - November 24^th, 2007

Opening Reception: Saturday, September 8^th, 6-9 pm

Form and Imagination: Women Ceramic Sculptors exhibits the figurative art of fifteen female artists from across the United States whose narrative work has been inspired by their experiences as children, mothers, women, artists, wives, or simply as human beings. The sculptures, intricate and embellished, include figurines, dolls, torsos, and still lifes. Some contain a playful twist or fairytale-like quirkiness, while others specialize in irony or satire.

American Museum of Ceramic Art

Ceramist, Laura Zindel

A few weeks ago I was browsing through Ceramics Monthly magazine and came across an article about ceramist, Laura Zindel. As an admirer of bug and beetle designs, I became an instant fan and placed an order immediately for her tumblers. They arrived in the mail and are gorgeous.

The Amazing Moxie Does it Again

One of my favorite needle felting artists, the amazing Moxie, whom I wrote about earlier, has once again wowed me. Her finger puppets make me giggle with glee, and this new fuzzeh one has put me over the top. You can see more of her fantastic needle felted creations on her flickr page. Felted Scarf in rainbow colors

I really like this knitted & felted Rainbow Scarf created by Queen Mudd from Sweden over at flickr. She has a ton of fantastic photos of knit items. Many of them are of lace. You can see a before felting photo of her Rainbow Scarf picture here. She also has a blog called Queen Mudd.

Insects in Decor

I adore anything insect. Today, Apartment Therapy included a link for Ant'ique, which is a wallpaper that won the "New Walls, please! 2007" design competition hosted by the German Design Council and A.S. Création. At first glance this wall treatment appears to be a classical baroque pattern, but on further inspection, the design is composed of thousands of ants. This reminded me of a piece I saw in the "Installation/Innovation: Textile Art in the 21st Century" exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Craft + Design. It was an installation that included an amazing wallpaper covered in beetles.

Knitted Homes of Crime

The Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia is having an exhibition titled "Crimes of Omission". The show is on view in their Project Space from April 20- August 5, 2007.The title of this exhibition "refers to artistic strategies that remove visual traces of a crime or draw attention to injustices that typically go unnoticed." Included in this show are an interesting series of knitted works called "Knitted Homes of Crime" by Freddie Robins. I really am inspired by all the uses of fiber in contemporary art today. via

Adorable knit shoe tutorial from Casey

Casey of floofie has posted a fantastic tutorial on how to knit up a pair of espadrilles using an old pair of flip flops for the sole. You can see more photos of her work in flickr album, atomic rose. She also has an etsy store.

Artist Uli Rapp

Amsterdam based artist, Uli Rapp has created some contemporary jewelry by screenprinting onto fabric and rubber. Her inspiration comes from classic 16th century designs. She also designs fabric using old and new printing techniques. You can purchase a number of her items from unica HOME. via

The amazing felt flower lariat necklaces of Gail Crosman Moore & Sandra Jasmin Fuchshofen

I have always been enamored with the work of Gail Crosman Moore. Her felt flowers have been an amazing source of inspiration for me. Last year I was lucky to have the opportunity to take on of her classes at The San Gabriel Bead Company. Craftzine featured an interview with her a while back.


I was browsing through the felt flickr pool today I came across another artist, Sandra Jasmin Fuchshofen who creates amazing felt flower lariats too. Her website, in German, features many more of her amazing creations.

Artist Jennifer Morris

One of my incredibly talented friends, Jennifer Morris, has been working on a line of polymer clay jewelry for the past few years. Her outstanding work is unlike any polymer clay creations you have ever seen. She is currently working on a website, Jennifer Morris Beads. She has a lovely etsy store where you can see and purchase her work. You can also puchase her work at The San Gabriel Bead Company in Arcadia, CA.

Happy Cavalier and artist Cal Lane

The other day I was browsing through my new favorite blog, Happy Cavalier and came across her post on artist Cal Lane. She is represented by the Foley Gallery. I adore how she has used a blowtorch to create these 'lacework' shovels. They make so many statements about gender issues and men's vs women's work. It would be nice to see them in person.

StumbleUpon and artist Jennifer Maestre

I was using the new software StumbleUpon today which allows you to 'channel surf' through great websites. While doing so, I came across artist this website featuring the artwork of Jennifer Maestre. I have seen pencil sculptures before, but I found these to be very impressive.

Fiber Artist Maria Kjo

The other day I was spending way too much time looking at images at Flickr and came across the work of Maria Kjo from Portugal. She creates amazing wearable felt and crochet pieces.

I am partial to these freeform cuff bracelets she has created. The like the way she used rivets in felt to create the closure for these bracelets. A number of her pieces are available at her etsy store.
