My First Sweater, pt. 2

I have progress on my first sweater, the Sunrise Circle Jacket. The first sleeve and front left panel are complete, and I am near to finishing the right panel too.
I really like knitting up this pattern. It incorporates many increases and decreases and makes me think I may be ready to try knitting up some lace. Possibly this Swallowtail Shawl from the Fall 2006 Interweave Knits.

Rib-And-Cable Mits, Pt.2

Because I used a thicker yarn than called for, the Berroco Ultra Alpaca, I had to do a little modification. The body of the gloves turned out fine, but thumb gusset was too long and wide. I frogged back to the picked up stitches, decreased the number of stitches and knit fewer rows.
I still need to block the gloves, but I am happy with how they turned out. I especially love the colors. I am looking for the perfect pattern to make a matching scarf with the leftover yarn.

My First Sweater, pt. 1

I am going to knit the Ballet Wrap Cardigan sweater which was on the cover of the winter '05 Interweave Knits. It will be my first. I received the Colinette Prism yarn in Kingfisher color as a birthday gift. It is beautiful, but the dyelot was really dark. I was hoping for a more purple/blue/green look, rather than navy blue with tiny amounts of purple/green. After much thinking, I realized the thin yarn binder is cotton and the rest of the yarn is wool. Wool and cotton take different types of dye. I could over dye the cotton to bring in more color without ruining the wool! Here is the result.
